On the afternoon of July 7th local time, United Nations Secretary-General spokesman Stephane Dujarric said that the United States has notified the United Nations Secretary-General on the 6th that the United States will withdraw from the World Health Organization.
In response to a reporter’s email, Diyarik stated, “On July 6, 2020, the United States notified the Secretary-General that as the depositary of the 1946 Constitution of the World Health Organization, the United States withdrew from the world on July 6, 2021. WHO.”
In the email, Diyarik stated that since June 21, 1948, the United States has been a party to the Constitution of the World Health Organization. The World Health Assembly accepted the United States’ accession to the World Health Organization and stipulated the conditions for the United States’ final withdrawal from the World Health Organization, including a one-year notice and financial obligation to pay the full assessment.
Diyarik said that the Secretary-General is verifying with the World Health Organization whether the United States meets all the conditions for withdrawal.
